so today for some odd reason, right before (couple blocks, or about a block)we get to the freeway, my girlfriend's car stalls (i'm a passenger) and won't turn over when she attempts to restart it.
we are in the middle of an intersection, and my girfriend is unable to maneuver the care into a side street or gas station which we just fell short of. the car simply wouldn't start.
we have people honking at us, so i eventually place a red shopping cart behind the car to que people to the fact that we are stuck. still, people aren't really catching on, so i went into the parking lot and got another red cart and placed it upside down about a 100 feet from the back of my girlfriends car. this method was completely effective, asside from a few idiots that thought it would be wise to avoid the cart and then get back into the lane. it was obvious that this wasn't wise a few seconds following...
meanwhile, my girlfriend is trying to get the car started (flashers on) and i am trying to urge people to get into the other lane.
we have already dispatched aaa and i even spoke to the fullerton highway patrol. at this point my girlfriend got the car started and pulled it into the gas station and parked.
i carefully got the red shopping carts out of the street and then walked to the gas station. the car was overheating. we needed water and also needed more air in the tires. like i would at any gas station in california, i walked over to the attendent and asked him to turn on the air and water. the guy refuses telling me that we had to pay for it.
aaa showes up in the parking lot and asks us if we are the right people. while i talk to the aaa guy, someone backs his truck into the towtruck and bends his rear bumper. my girlfriend went across the street to get some coolant. the truck was at fault, so the owner of the truck and the aaa guy exchange a few words, ending the conversation gracefully.
i make one more attempt to get the attendent to activate the air and water. he refused yet again. he actually went so far as to tell the aaa guy to leave (aaa guy refuses, explaining his knowlege of his rights) finally aaa runs my girlfriends mebership number throught the right database, and the aaa guy fills our tires with the correct amount of air. my girlfriend adds the coolent she purchased from across the street and we finally make it to the freeway, eventually home.
